Kick-start Your Engineering Career with Osprey

As part of our Year in Industry Programme, you'll join a team of highly experienced Structural Engineers, Project Engineers and Senior Project Engineers, gaining valuable hands-on experience across a wide range of specialist projects .

You’ll also take part in our SOAR Early Careers Programme, a structured development pathway that combines technical learning, professional skills training, and peer networking to su pport your career growth.

This is a unique opportunity to apply the engineering knowledge you've gained at university to real-world projects, while developing practical skills that will help shape your future career.

You'll work alongside industry experts, contribute to live projects, and gain exposure to every stage of the engineering process, from concept and planning through to project delivery.

Your Role

As a Year in Industry Engineer, you'll support the Engineering team in developing safe, efficient and innovative solutions for heavy transport and lifting operations.

Reporting to a Senior Project Engineer, you'll gain practical experience across a variety of engineering projects, working closely with operational teams, clients and fellow engineers.

In this role, you will:

Support the development of engineering solutions for complex transport and lifting projects.

Assist with structural calculations and engineering assessments.

Support the preparation of technical proposals and tender submissions.

Create and amend engineering drawings using AutoCAD or similar software.

Collaborate with project teams to develop practical solutions that meet client requirements.

Visit project sites and gain first-hand experience of engineering operations.

Apply engineering principles to solve real-world technical challenges.

Work closely with experienced engineers to develop your technical knowledge and professional skills.

Ensure all work is carried out in line with Osprey's Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) standards.

Contribute ideas and support continuous improvement initiatives across the Engineering team.

About You

We're looking for enthusiastic and ambitious students who are eager to learn, develop new skills and gain valuable industry experience.

You'll be:

Currently studying towards a degree in Mechanical, Structural, Civil or Construction Engineering.

Seeking a Year in Industry placement as part of your degree programme.

A strong problem solver with analytical thinking skills.

An excellent communicator who enjoys working collaboratively with others.

Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Familiar with AutoCAD or similar engineering software.

Willing to travel to sites when required .

Passionate about engineering and motivated to learn from experienced professionals.

A full UK driving licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
