Careers Development Team Leader

(Permanent, Full-time, Term Time Only – 40 weeks)

Make a Difference Beyond the Classroom

Effective careers education, information, advice and guidance plays a vital role in helping students understand their options, make informed decisions and progress successfully into further learning, Higher Education, apprenticeships and employment.

At Stanmore College, we are committed to ensuring that all learners have access to impartial, high-quality careers support that reflects their individual needs, aspirations and circumstances.

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Careers Development Team Leader to join our Student Services team and lead the coordination and development of the College's Careers & Employability programme. You will play a key role in ensuring that careers provision is ambitious, inclusive and responsive to the needs of our students, while supporting the College to meet the Gatsby Benchmarks, Matrix Standard requirements and relevant Ofsted expectations.

Join Us at an Exciting Time

Stanmore College is entering a transformative period, supported by a £60 million redevelopment investment that will create a modern, sustainable campus for learners, staff and the wider community.

Alongside this investment in our facilities, we are committed to ensuring our students have the knowledge, skills and confidence to succeed beyond college. Our focus is not only on what students achieve while they are at College, but also on what they go on to do afterwards.

As Careers Development Team Leader, you will have an important role in shaping and delivering a careers programme that connects students with employers, universities, apprenticeship providers and other progression opportunities.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Student Services, you will lead and coordinate the delivery of high-quality Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) across the College. You will oversee the Careers & Employability programme, line manage the Careers Adviser and work closely with curriculum, pastoral and support teams to ensure careers provision is effectively embedded across the student experience.

You will lead on the Gatsby Benchmarks, Matrix and relevant Ofsted requirements, coordinate UCAS and destination tracking, monitor student participation and outcomes, and use data and feedback to drive continuous improvement. You will also develop strong relationships with employers, universities and training providers, coordinate careers events and progression activities, and ensure students have access to up-to-date information, guidance and opportunities across Higher Education, apprenticeships, employment and further learning.

Why This Role Matters

Students have different ambitions, circumstances and starting points. High-quality careers guidance can help them understand their options, recognise their strengths and make confident decisions about their future.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to influence the quality and impact of careers provision across the College while working directly with students and a wide range of colleagues and external partners.

You will help ensure that students are not only informed about their future options, but are given meaningful opportunities to engage with employers, universities, apprenticeship providers and the wider world of work.

About You

You will be an experienced careers professional with significant experience of providing careers information, advice and guidance, ideally within an FE or other educational setting.

You will have experience of coordinating careers and employability provision and a strong understanding of the Gatsby Benchmarks, current progression routes and the needs of young people and adult learners.

You will ideally have experience of line management or supporting the development of colleagues, as well as experience of destination tracking, UCAS coordination, careers events and partnership working.

You will be organised, proactive and confident in working with students, staff, parents/carers, employers, universities and other external partners. You will also have the ability to use data and feedback to evaluate provision and identify opportunities for improvement.

What We Offer

This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-looking Student Services team at an exciting time in the development of Stanmore College.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead and develop a comprehensive Careers & Employability programme.
  • Make a meaningful contribution to student progression and outcomes.
  • Work with a diverse range of students, employers, universities and training providers.
  • Shape careers provision in line with the Gatsby Benchmarks and the College's RISE Personal Development programme.
  • Contribute to the development of a modern College environment supported by significant investment in the campus and student experience.

Salary: Band H–I, Point 27–32 (£36,087 – £41,555 FTE)
Term-Time Only Salary (40 weeks): £33,261.39 – £38,301.24 per annum
