Description
Maintenance Team Leader
Lead. Improve. Deliver.
At Chemring Countermeasures, we're looking for an experienced Maintenance Team Leader to take ownership of our shift maintenance team and play a key role in keeping our site operating safely, efficiently and reliably.
This is more than a supervisory role. You'll be leading a team of skilled engineers, driving maintenance performance, championing safety standards and supporting the continuous improvement of critical manufacturing assets.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading, coaching and developing a team of Maintenance Engineers
- Managing performance, attendance, training and competency development
- Supervising planned, reactive and project maintenance activities
- Coordinating resources to support production priorities
- Working closely with Maintenance Planning and Reliability teams to improve asset performance
- Acting as an authorised Permit Issuer and overseeing contractor activities across site
- Championing health, safety and environmental standards
- Supporting maintenance shutdowns, improvement projects and investigations into equipment failures and incidents
What We’re Looking For
We're seeking a hands‑on leader who can inspire a team while maintaining a strong focus on safety, reliability and continuous improvement.
- Experience leading engineering or maintenance teams
- Time-served apprenticeship (ONC, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
- At least 5 years’ experience in a mechanical, electrical or automated manufacturing environment
- Experience executing maintenance plans and coordinating maintenance activities
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and machinery safety principles
- Understanding of Risk Assessments and Method Statements
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications
- Eligible to work in the UK
- COMPEX certification (Gas & Dust)
- Multi-skilled engineering background
- Knowledge of ESD precautions
