HB Partners Limited is supporting an established and successful Multi-Academy Trust to appoint an experienced Financial Controller to lead its operational finance function.
This is a key role within the Trust, reporting to the CFO and working closely with senior leaders, academy teams and governance committees.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for ensuring the Trust has a robust, compliant and forward-thinking finance function, whilst leading and developing the operational finance team.
Key responsibilities include: Leading the operational finance team and overseeing the delivery of an effective finance service across the Trust Managing month-end processes, balance sheet reconciliations and year-end financial statements Leading on internal and external audit activity and ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory requirements Developing and implementing strong financial controls, policies and procedures Overseeing the finance and accounting system and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting Managing cash flow, banking arrangements and the Trust's investment portfolio Ensuring accurate HMRC, Df E and other statutory returns Supporting the development of the Trust's wider finance strategy Providing financial advice, guidance and training to colleagues across the academies Identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes and financial performance
About you: You should be a qualified finance professional (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) with at least five years' experience within a finance function, alongside experience of managing a finance team and producing complex management information.
You should have strong knowledge of financial controls, audit and regulatory compliance, with experience of financial systems and procedures.
Experience within education, a school, Multi-Academy Trust or not for profit environment would be highly advantageous, as would knowledge of academy funding and financial reporting requirements.
