We’re delighted to be partnering with a highly respected independent schools group to recruit a Group Payroll Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to take ownership of payroll operations across a complex, multi-entity organisation, ensuring accurate, compliant and timely payroll delivery for over a dozen schools and associated entities.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Head of Finance, you'll lead the end-to-end payroll function, overseeing payroll processing, pensions administration, compliance, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives. Working closely with HR, Finance and senior stakeholders, you'll play a key role in delivering a first-class payroll service across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage monthly payrolls across multiple entities
- Ensure compliance with HMRC, PAYE, NIC, RTI and pension regulations
- Oversee Teachers' Pension Scheme (TPS), LGPS and other pension arrangements
- Lead payroll reporting, reconciliations and payroll accounting processes
- Act as the payroll subject matter expert for schools and senior leaders
- Drive process improvements and payroll system enhancements
- Manage and develop payroll team members
About You
You'll be an experienced payroll professional with:
- Proven experience managing payroll within a multi-site or multi-entity organisation
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements
- Experience of pension schemes and payroll compliance
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Strong stakeholder management and communication abilities
- Experience supervising payroll staff
