This role focuses on supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs within an Achievement Centre provision. The postholder acts as a key worker for a group of pupils, delivering targeted interventions as part of a structured reintegration programme aimed at returning students to mainstream education.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building consistent, supportive relationships with pupils
  • Developing personalised support and reintegration plans
  • Monitoring progress in behaviour, attendance and engagement
  • Using restorative approaches to manage behaviour
  • Supporting emotional regulation
  • Helping pupils successfully transition back into regular lessons

The Inclusion Support Assistant works closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, parents/carers, and external agencies to ensure coordinated support. They contribute to the daily running and development of the provision, as well as wider school priorities around inclusion, wellbeing, and behaviour. In addition, the role requires adherence to safeguarding, confidentiality, and school policies, alongside maintaining professional standards, supporting equality and inclusion, and engaging in ongoing training and development.

This is a truly inclusive and diverse community where we foster a culture of mutual respect, responsibility and aspiration. At Hazel Wood, our team of highly motivated staff, in partnership with our young people, parents and governors, work incredibly hard to ensure that all our students have the opportunity to achieve the best possible outcomes, both academically and pastorally. We aim to ensure that we create a stimulating and disciplined environment, and to recognise that successful education lies in supporting the welfare of the whole child: their safety, health and happiness.

We believe in discipline in the true sense of the word, teaching our young people self-control and the resilience to keep working when things get difficult, therefore preparing our young people to be successful adults. We are looking for a colleague who shares the clear vision that the child is at the heart of everything we do, one who can enjoy positive, professional relationships with young people and who demonstrates high levels of resilience and emotional intelligence. Every child is entitled to an outstanding education where they have excellent opportunities to achieve beyond their potential.

We strive to develop the aspirations and values of every student and member of staff. This role is a key part of our growth strategy and could be an excellent opportunity for the right candidate ready for their next step. We are a values driven organisation, highly ambitious, passionate about doing things with integrity whilst maintaining a good sense of humour.

We would be happy to arrange a visit to the school, where we can discuss with you the importance of the school within the local community and how, by working with us, you can be part of the team that builds on the past, ensures performance in the present and prepares the students for their future successes.

Our Employee Benefits:

  • Enrolment into the Local Government Pension Scheme with a generous employer contribution
  • Excellent Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
  • A strong and caring ethos among staff and students
  • Networking opportunities across our trust
  • Salary sacrifices cycle to work scheme
  • Healthcare plan through Medicash
  • 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme providing emotional, financial and legal support
  • Health and Wellbeing through Medicash with access to a 24/7 Telephone Support Service and Face to Face counselling service
