We are seeking a reliable, enthusiastic, and confident Literacy Specialist to join our team at Hazel Grove High School. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain experience in education, whether you're considering a career in teaching or already have experience working with young people.

As a Literacy Specialist, you will be responsible for providing learning support to students who are on the SEN register and/or are of lower ability. This will include supporting students in their mainstream lessons and in small groups.

This position is contracted on a 37 hours per week Term Time Only basis. This means you will mainly work when the school is open to pupils and will not need to work during the school holidays unless the contract requires you to do so.

Job Purpose

Raise levels of literacy amongst identified groups at KS3 and KS4. Deliver small group and one to one intervention programmes to support students with literacy difficulties, following the schemes of learning and intervention programmes in place.

Key Skills & Experience
  • Sound educational background including GCSE’s in Maths and English (A*-C) or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a school environment would be advantageous.
  • Ideally possess prior experience within a similar role.
