Hazcom UK Limited is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Contracts Manager to oversee asbestos removal and hazardous material projects across the UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing multiple licensed asbestos removal contracts, ensuring all works are completed safely, compliantly, on time, and within budget.

This is a senior operational role requiring extensive knowledge of HSE regulations, asbestos legislation, project management, client liaison, and workforce supervision within the asbestos and hazardous waste sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee multiple asbestos removal and remediation contracts from tender stage through to completion.
  • Ensure full compliance with all current Health & Safety Executive (HSE) regulations and asbestos legislation.
  • Prepare and review:
    • Risk Assessments
    • Method Statements
    • Plans of Work
    • Exposure Monitoring Records
    • Site Audits and Compliance Documentation
  • Ensure all projects comply with:
    • Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012
    • HSG247 – Licensed Contractors’ Guide
    • HSG248 – The Analysts’ Guide
    • CAR 2012
    • CDM Regulations 2015
    • Hazardous Waste Regulations
  • Liaise directly with clients, analysts, local authorities, HSE inspectors, and site management teams.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits, and toolbox talks.
  • Manage supervisors, operatives, subcontractors, and labour resources.
  • Monitor project costs, variations, profitability, and reporting.
  • Ensure all air monitoring, waste consignment notes, and site records are completed correctly.
  • Assist in maintaining and renewing the company’s HSE asbestos licence.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure all PPE, RPE face fit testing, training, and medical records remain compliant and up to date.
  • Support tender submissions and pricing of works where required.
  • Attend client meetings and develop long-term business relationships.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within the licensed asbestos removal industry.
  • Previous experience as a Contracts Manager, Project Manager, or Senior Supervisor in asbestos removal.
  • Strong working knowledge of HSE asbestos regulations and guidance.
  • Excellent understanding of:
    • Licensed asbestos removal procedures
    • Enclosure construction
    • Decontamination procedures
    • Waste handling and transportation
    • Air monitoring processes
  • Experience managing multiple live projects simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and compliance systems.
  • Ability to produce detailed reports and project documentation.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

  • ARCA Contracts Manager Refresher or equivalent
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
  • CSCS Card
  • Asbestos Supervisor Training
  • Face Fit Testing Certification (desirable)
  • First Aid at Work (desirable)
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (preferred)
  • IOSH Managing Safely (preferred)
