Join one of the UK’s leading bakery manufacturers and play a key role in shaping the future of site hygiene, food safety, and operational excellence. Haywood & Padgett is a fast‑growing, high‑volume bakery known for quality, innovation, and a strong people‑focused culture. We are now looking for an experienced Hygiene Manager to lead our hygiene operations and drive continuous improvement across the site. This is a critical leadership role, ensuring our products, environment, and processes meet the highest standards of food safety, legality, and customer expectations.
Responsibilities
- Leading and delivering the site hygiene strategy, ensuring full audit readiness at all times.
- Managing, motivating, and developing a multi‑shift hygiene team, setting clear expectations and driving high performance.
- Ensuring full compliance with BRCGS, customer codes of practice, and all legal hygiene requirements.
- Owning hygiene systems and documentation, including CICs, COSHH, training matrices, and cleaning validation.
- Managing hygiene budgets, chemicals, and consumables, balancing cost efficiency with operational effectiveness.
- Leading and supporting customer and third‑party audits, confidently demonstrating hygiene controls and standards.
- Investigating hygiene non‑conformances and driving robust root cause analysis with sustainable corrective actions.
- Managing pest control contractors and leading continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen site resilience.
Qualifications
- Proven experience leading or managing a hygiene team within a UK food manufacturing environment (essential).
- Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene systems, and audit requirements.
- Extensive training and experience with chemical handling (essential).
- Confident leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and develop teams.
- A proactive, solutions‑focused mindset with a passion for high standards and continuous improvement.
Salary up to £45,000 per year, depending on experience. Stable daytime hours: Monday to Friday, 8am–4pm. Opportunity to make a real impact in a growing, ambitious business.
