A well-established packaging manufacturing site is looking to strengthen its engineering team with the addition of a Multi-Skilled Engineering Technician at its highly automated production facility. This is an excellent opportunity to join a large-scale manufacturing operation where engineering reliability and fast response times are critical to maintaining production performance and customer service levels.
The successful candidate will be a strong electrically biased engineer with experience working within fast-paced FMCG, packaging, manufacturing, or process environments.
The Role
- Working as part of a busy engineering function, you will be responsible for maintaining, fault finding, repairing, and improving a range of automated production and packaging machinery across the site.
- You will play a key role in reducing downtime, improving machine performance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Attending machinery breakdowns and carrying out effective fault finding.
- Completing planned preventative maintenance activities.
- Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults on automated equipment.
- Supporting continuous improvement and engineering projects.
- Assisting with machinery upgrades, installations, and commissioning.
- Working closely with production teams to maximise equipment reliability.
- Ensuring all engineering activities are completed safely and efficiently.
- Maintaining maintenance records and engineering documentation.
What We're Looking For
We are keen to speak with engineers who have strong electrical maintenance experience gained within a fast-moving manufacturing or FMCG environment.
Ideal Background
- Time-served Multi-Skilled Engineer / Maintenance Engineer / Shift Engineer.
- Strong electrical fault-finding skills.
- Previous experience within FMCG, packaging, manufacturing, or process industries.
- Apprentice trained, NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC, or equivalent engineering qualification.
- Experience working with automated production or packaging machinery.
- Ability to fault find on PLC-controlled equipment.
- Siemens S7 PLC experience would be highly advantageous.
- Knowledge of drives, sensors, relays, motors, pumps, valves, conveyors, and control systems.
- Comfortable working within a fast-paced production environment.
- Good communication and problem-solving abilities.
