Are you an experienced Estimator looking for a stable, long-term role within a well-established manufacturing business in Cardiff? We are working with a reputable manufacturer that produces bespoke engineered products and requires a commercially minded Estimator to support their quoting and order process. This is an office-based role where accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret technical information is key.
The Role
As an Estimator, you'll be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive quotations for bespoke engineered products, analysing customer specifications, materials, and labour requirements. You'll work closely with internal teams to ensure quotations are commercially sound, technically compliant, and delivered within agreed timescales.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing accurate quotations for bespoke manufacturing projects using internal systems
- Reviewing customer enquiries to ensure suitable and compliant solutions are offered
- Building detailed cost estimates including materials, labour and production costs
- Issuing drawings for approval and ensuring all orders are fully agreed prior to release to production
- Communicating with customers to clarify specifications and respond to quotation queries
- Preparing and submitting quotations within agreed deadlines
- Identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or compliance
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials and internal standards
- Working closely with Projects, Technical and Operations teams to support smooth delivery
What We're Looking For
- Experience in estimating within a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Strong numerical, analytical and attention-to-detail skills
- Confident using Microsoft Excel and estimating software (AutoCAD or similar advantageous)
- Ability to manage multiple quotations and work to deadlines
- Clear and professional communication skills
- Experience working with bespoke or engineered products advantageous
