Job Description
Your new company A well-established higher education organisation based in Leeds is seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Operative to join its Estates and Facilities team.
Operating across multiple city-centre sites, the organisation is committed to providing a safe, secure and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors.
Our new role As a Facilities Maintenance Operative, you will play a key role in ensuring the effective maintenance, safety and operational readiness of a diverse property portfolio.
Working as part of an experienced facilities team, you will undertake a broad range of planned and reactive maintenance duties across buildings and grounds.
Responsibilities will include carrying out general building repairs, carrying out plant room and building management system checks, supporting statutory compliance activities, and assisting with minor refurbishment and renovation projects.
You will also help manage contractors on site, maintain accurate maintenance records, support room and event setups, and contribute to the overall security and safety of the campus environment.
- What you'll need to succeed
- Previous experience in a building maintenance, facilities, estates or property maintenance role.
- Good practical skills across a range of maintenance disciplines, including basic electrical, plumbing, decorating and general building repairs.
- Knowledge of health and safety best practices within a facilities or estates environment.
- Experience liaising with contractors and monitoring maintenance works.
- Ability to prioritise workloads and respond effectively to reactive maintenance issues.
- Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
- Competent IT skills and experience using maintenance management or helpdesk systems.
- Willingness to participate in a call-out rota and undertake key-holder duties.
- A full UK driving licence would be advantageous.
