Your new company Hays Accountancy & Finance are recruiting on behalf of a successful and growing organisation in the Teesside area for an experienced Accounting Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic business during an exciting period of growth, offering exposure to senior stakeholders and the chance to play a key role in shaping the finance function.

Your new role Reporting into senior leadership, you will be responsible for overseeing financial accounting operations, ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting, and compliance with statutory requirements. You will lead a high-performing finance team while partnering with stakeholders across the wider business to support strategic decision-making.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes
  • Managing financial reporting and group reporting submissions
  • Preparing and reviewing journals, balance sheet reconciliations and fixed asset accounting
  • Producing financial statements and management reporting
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory reporting and filing obligations
  • Managing VAT, corporation tax and wider tax compliance requirements
  • Acting as the key contact for external auditors and coordinating annual audits
  • Maintaining and improving financial controls, policies and procedures
  • Overseeing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and payroll activities
  • Driving process improvements across finance systems and reporting
  • Leading, coaching and developing a finance team
  • Partnering with operational and commercial stakeholders to provide financial insight and analysis.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this role, you will be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with strong financial accounting and reporting experience gained within a UK business environment. You will also possess:

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS
  • Experience managing statutory reporting and compliance requirements
  • Previous audit management experience
  • Knowledge of VAT and corporation tax compliance
  • Proven people management and leadership capability
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience of ERP or accounting systems
  • Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

Candidates with experience in a group reporting, multinational or complex business environment will be particularly attractive.
