An established and growing environmental consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality ecological advice across the UK is seeking to expand its Ecology team. The organisation works across a diverse portfolio of development and infrastructure projects and is known for its collaborative culture and technical excellence.
As a Consultant or Senior Ecologist, you will play a key role in delivering ecological services on a range of projects, from feasibility through to planning and construction. The position can be tailored to suit an experienced Consultant or an established Senior Ecologist, depending on your background.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and delivering ecological projects to time and budget
- Undertaking and overseeing habitat and protected species surveys
- Producing technical reports including PEAs, EcIAs and BNG assessments
- Providing clear ecological advice to clients and planning authorities
- Supporting and mentoring junior staff (Senior level)
- Assisting with project planning, fee proposals and client liaison.
What you'll need to succeed:
- A degree in Ecology or a related discipline
- Proven UK consultancy experience at Consultant or Senior level
- Strong report writing and technical assessment skills
- Good knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and planning policy
- Experience of habitat and protected species surveys
- A full UK driving licence
Desirable experience includes:
- CIEEM membership (or working towards)
- Protected species licences (e.g. bats, GCN)
- BNG experience and use of biodiversity metrics
- Project management and client-facing experience
