As Payroll Manager, you'll be the heartbeat of the payroll function - leading the end-to-end process, guiding a small team, and making sure people get paid accurately and on time. You'll also be the go-to expert for all things payroll, systems, compliance, and continuous improvement.

What You'll Be Getting Up To
  • Running monthly payrolls across multiple sites with accuracy, calmness, and a touch of flair.
  • Keeping payroll records pristine and up to date.
  • Making sure tax codes, pensions, statutory payments, and deductions are spot-on.
  • Working with time & attendance data.
  • Reviewing journals, reconciling accounts, and keeping the numbers honest.
  • Handling HMRC submissions.
  • Uploading BACS files and ensuring everything is signed, sealed, and delivered.
  • Solving payroll queries with patience, clarity, and confidentiality.
  • Spotting opportunities to improve processes and championing smarter ways of working.
  • Owning payroll dashboards.
  • Leading annual planning, timelines, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Building resilience into the payroll function.
  • Hosting remote payroll clinics.
What You Bring
  • Extensive hands-on payroll experience in a complex, multi-site environment.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation.
  • Excellent IT skills, especially Excel.
  • Experience of making T&A work with your Payroll software; exposure to a system like Workday, iTrent or Zellis would be ideal.
