We are seeking a Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer to join a busy maintenance team. This role is critical in supporting the continuous operation of a high-volume manufacturing plant, with a strong emphasis on electrical maintenance, fault-finding, and automation systems.
Working as part of a dedicated shift team, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving plant equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
Your new role:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across a range of plant equipment
- Provide rapid response to breakdowns and carry out effective fault diagnosis
- Maintain and repair electrical and mechanical systems across the site
- Identify root causes of failures and implement corrective actions
- Fault-finding and maintenance on PLC systems (Siemens preferred)
- Maintain motors, drives (inverters), sensors, and control panels
- Work on industrial electrical distribution systems, MCCs, and switchgear
- Support automation and control improvements across the plant
- Assist with maintenance of pumps, gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems
- Work collaboratively with mechanical engineers on complex repairs
What you'll need to succeed:
- Recognised engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification (minimum requirement NVQ/C&G level 3)
- Strong multi-skilled experience with an electrical bias
- Proven fault-finding ability in a manufacturing or heavy industrial setting
- Experience with PLC systems and automated production equipment
- Understanding of motors, drives, and industrial control systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
