New role for an IBM I, RPG developer to enhance and maintain a version of the Paladign system which is used to support the UK wealth management business. The software is maintained in house and has many interfaces with other systems, for example financial reporting, order execution, portfolio management, client reporting.
Responsibilities
- Analyze business requirements, document, develop and test software to meet those requirements or fix defects in existing software in accordance with published standards.
- Perform unit and integration tests of software components, in accordance with published standards.
- Manage, perform and support software releases plus ownership of application documentation.
- Contribute to defining team standards including code standards, toolsets and quality.
- Communicate effectively with other members of the IT community, and participate in department initiatives.
Key Skills
- 5 + years' experience in Financial Services, with a strong background in private banking.
- 5 + years' experience of Paladign experience – knowledge of the update module.
- 5 + years' experience of developing on the IBM i (aka IBM iSeries, System i, i5, AS/400) using RPG and CL.
- Must be confident in all flavours of RPG (fixed format RPG, free format RPG).
- Previous experience of using XML, MQ Series, SFTP (or other file transfer protocols) and SQL.
- Desirable Java development on the IBM i.
- Control-M job scheduling.
- Use of turnover change control.
Communication
- Must be fluent in spoken and written English.
- Must be able to communicate with business users and other stakeholders during the project lifecycle.
- Must be able to build relationships and work closely with our development, QA and production support colleagues around the globe.
- Must be able to participate in a culture of ‘knowledge sharing’ with the development team; sharing best practices with other teams.
