A well-established, award-winning construction business based near Ipswich is seeking a Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join its growing commercial team. Operating across both public and private sectors throughout East Anglia, the company delivers projects across education, healthcare, residential, heritage and commercial sectors. With a strong reputation for quality, collaboration and long-term client relationships, the business offers a supportive environment where individuals are genuinely developed and given the opportunity to progress within the industry.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the early stages of their Quantity Surveying career to gain hands-on experience within a supportive and experienced commercial team. You will work closely with senior surveyors and project teams, assisting with:
- Supporting the commercial management of construction projects
- Assisting with cost tracking, valuations and financial reporting
- Supporting procurement of subcontractor packages
- Monitoring project costs and reporting against budgets
- Assisting with variations and account management
- Gaining exposure to both pre-construction and live project environments
This role will give you real responsibility from an early stage, with structured support to help you progress towards becoming a fully qualified Quantity Surveyor.
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Be on the path to becoming a Quantity Surveyor (degree, HNC/HND or relevant studies)
- Have a genuine interest in construction and commercial management
- Demonstrate strong numerical and analytical skills
- Be organised, motivated and eager to learn
- Have good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
- Ideally hold a full UK driving licence
- Previous industry experience, placements or site exposure would be advantageous, but not essential.
