Join a leading pharmaceutical manufacturer as a Senior Counsel, providing strategic legal support to a UK-based commercial organisation operating within one of the world's most heavily regulated industries.

Job Overview: This is a high-profile role for an experienced in-house lawyer, offering broad exposure to commercial, regulatory, data privacy and competition law matters, while partnering with senior stakeholders across the business. You'll play a key role in managing complex legal risk, supporting innovative business initiatives including AI, and driving legal process improvements within a fast-paced, global environment.

Contract Details:

  • Location: London (minimum 2 days onsite per week preferred)
  • Contract Length : 6 months with potential extension
  • Rate: Β£920 per day (inside IR35)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic legal advice supporting the commercialisation of medicines within the UK market.
  • Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including services, sponsorship, collaboration, distribution and NHS-facing contracts.
  • Advise on NHS collaborations, grants, sponsorship arrangements, reimbursement models, supply chain matters and investigator-sponsored research.
  • Act as a trusted legal partner to stakeholders across commercial, marketing, medical, compliance, corporate affairs, market access and innovation teams.
  • Support business initiatives involving AI, data protection and emerging technologies.
  • Serve as Deputy Data Protection Officer, providing guidance on UK and EU data privacy matters.
  • Identify and manage legal and compliance risks while driving practical, commercially focused solutions and process improvements.

Key Requirements

  • Qualified solicitor with a current SRA Practising Certificate, or an overseas practising certificate supported by significant UK legal experience.
  • 8+ years PQE with substantial in-house commercial legal experience.
  • Essential experience supporting a UK pharmaceutical or biotechnology organisation, particularly within sales, marketing and NHS-facing activities.
  • Strong knowledge of the ABPI Code, competition law, and UK/EU data privacy legislation.
  • Proven experience advising on NHS collaborations, sponsorships, grants, reimbursement, supply chain and related commercial arrangements.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and build relationships across complex, cross-functional organisations.
  • Comfortable handling a broad range of legal matters, from day-to-day advisory work through to complex and high-risk issues.
