You will be working for a client in the Telecoms industry. They offer the UK's fastest broadband network and are now also the nation's best-loved mobile brand. They have diverse, high-performing teams jam-packed with serious talent.

We have a new role for an IP Test Engineer to join our client's Transport Test team who are responsible for the testing of all IP & Transport System changes. The main function of this role is to upgrade, regression test and support IP equipment at the client's Testbed in Slough. There they test and integrate innovative and class-leading solutions utilising some of the latest and most exciting IP Networking, transmission, transport and test automation technologies.

IP testing within the Testbed environment involves following test strategies ensuring all risks are assessed. Testing upgrades/changes on network equipment, building relationships, influencing stakeholders with internal departments and raising problems with equipment vendors and progressing them to a satisfactory conclusion. This is carried out whilst regularly communicating progress, results and technical issues to the project team, vendors and customers.

You will conduct testing pre- and post-change to ensure it meets network, design and customer requirements. You will analyse detailed technical documentation in order to follow Test Strategies and write associated Test Plans and Test Criteria that match the scope and level of risk agreed with customers. You will manage faults in accordance with the Fault Management Process and measure and report performance against departmental KPIs. Prioritise multiple Test activities and manage changing requirements whilst contributing to the development of the team. Ensure non-compliant TSA measures are stopped from going into the live network. Support the IP Testbed by resolving IP issues encountered by other test teams.

Please note - this role requires the ability to work on nights supporting releases/first of type. This would only be 2, maybe 3 times during this 6-month contract.

Your CV must evidence previous testing experience across switches from vendors like Juniper on their Satellite switch EX43000, 44000, 46000, BT CX600, Cisco Nexus switches, Checkpoint and Fortinet firewalls. You will be familiar with testing technologies across MPLS (L2/L3VPN), Segment Routing, EVPN, RSVP/TE, BGP variants, OSPF/IS-IS, IPSEC/SSL VPN, QoS/CoS, LAG/MC-LAG, Multicast.

You need to be familiar with Telecoms Security Act rules and be able to quote some of the rules around security logging, monitoring etc. This isn't testing CPE - it's testing enterprise scale network technology. You need to know how to run test analyses, traffic generators. You need to be experienced at using Jira to log defects.

It is expected you will have CCIP or CCNP Certification and you should have worked for a Tier 1 Mobile Operator. Please be clear only candidates that meet the above criteria with the right to work in the UK will be considered. Sponsorship is not available. The nature of the work requires this candidate to be based on site at the Testbed 5 days a week - there is no option for any remote work! To be considered for this role, you must live within a commutable distance of the client's site in Slough.
