Your new company has a great opportunity for a shift technician working at a busy port. This is a hands-on technical role responsible for keeping port equipment, cruise-terminal assets, and cargo-handling systems running safely and reliably across rotating shifts starting at 04.30 early and 13.30 late shift, 2 and 3 days over a 21-day rotating period.
Your new role includes:
- Participating in pre-shift inspections of cruise-terminal and operational assets such as fenders, passenger boarding bridges, and gangways.
- Managing berth preparation for cruise ship arrivals, including positioning and checking boarding bridges and gangways.
- Reactive maintenance across the port, responding to breakdowns, equipment failures, and urgent repairs to keep operations running smoothly.
- Offering support for vessel arrival and departure, including installing boarding bridges, crew gangways, and water supply connections.
- Maintenance of mobile plant and container-handling equipment, including troubleshooting motors, variable-speed controllers, and mechanical systems.
- Working to strict safety systems, especially when dealing with heavy machinery, heights, and moving equipment.
- Some facilities' maintenance including lighting, water systems, and public services across the port area.
What you'll need to succeed:
- NVQ Level 3 or ONC in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Ability to work at heights and in industrial environments.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Experience with fault-finding, reactive repairs, and modern maintenance strategies (e.g., RCM, CBM, TPM).
