Your new company
Hays are partnered with the infrastructure design arm of a Tier 1 contractor business, globally recognised for their construction projects across the Highways, Rail and Water sectors. They have 174 offices globally, and require a Highway Design Engineer in either their busy Watford, or Bridgend (South Wales) design offices.
Your new role
As a Senior Highway Engineer, you will be responsible for the hands-on delivery of designs to the appropriate technical standard, client lialson and fee management;
- Undertake designs, drawings, specifications and supporting technical reports and other technical output to achieve project outcomes.
- Where and when required, undertake site visits, surveys, and investigations.
- Ensure design work is undertaken in compliance with relevant Health & Safety and Environmental legislation.
- Maintain and increase knowledge of Standards & Codes of Practice.
- Participate in CPD activities to ensure skills remain relevant.
- Plan and manage delivery of projects to agreed time and cost
- Ensure work is undertaken in compliance with internal quality standards and processes.
- Work collaboratively with customers to understand and develop project objectives and to build excellent customer relationships
What you\’ll need to succeed
- A BSc, BEng or MEng in Civil Engineering / Highway / Transportation or similar discipline.
- Ideally a Chartered Engineer with ICE or CIHT or able to demonstrate that you are actively working towards becoming Chartered with one of the above institutions.
- Demonstratable experience in Civil Engineering design and construction related activities.
- In-depth Knowledge of standards such as the Design manual for roads and bridges and the manual of contract documents for highway works together with other relevant best practice guidance.
- Working knowledge of software design tools such as Key Lines, Key Signs, Civils 3D, AutoCAD, Micro Drainage etc.
- Able to demonstrate a proven track record for the delivery of projects to time, quality and budget.
