Interim Senior Employee Relations Manager to join a large-scale public sector organisation on an initial 3 months contract via Hays. This is a critical leadership role within the HR function, responsible for providing oversight of employee relations (ER), including leading on complex ER cases and leading a specialist team, and ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, consistent and legally compliant ER service.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of ER professionals, driving performance, capability, and service improvement.
- Act as the senior escalation point for complex and high-risk ER cases, ensuring fair, consistent and legally compliant outcomes.
- Partner with senior stakeholders, HR Business Partners, and Trade Unions to deliver effective and collaborative solutions.
- Support the development and implementation of people strategies, ER policies, and cultural initiatives.
- Lead case reviews and promote early resolution approaches in line with best practice.
- Use data, insight, and trends to inform decision-making and improve ER service delivery.
Person Specification
- Significant experience in employee relations leadership, ideally within the NHS or wider public sector.
- Proven track record managing complex and sensitive ER casework.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
- Ability to influence and build relationships with senior stakeholders and Trade Unions.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment and delivering short-term impact.
