Your newpanyHays Accountancy & Finance are supporting a well-established manufacturing and engineering business in Scunthorpe with the recruitment of a Temporary Accountant to provide sickness cover. This is a broad and hands-on finance role within a busy finance function, offering exposure across both financial and management accounting activities.
Your new roleReporting into senior finance leadership, you will support the day-to-day running of the finance function whilst ensuring accurate financial reporting and effective financial control. This is a varied position suited to an experienced accountant who enjoys working across multiple areas of finance and can quickly add value within a fast-paced environment.
Key responsibilities will include:
Preparation of management accounts and month-end reporting
Financial accounting activities, including balance sheet reconciliations
Producing trial balance information and supporting statutory reporting
Budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
Cashflow monitoring and forecasting
VAT returns and other regulatory reporting requirements
Bank reconciliations and payment processing
Credit control oversight and aged debt management
Producing financial reports and analysis for management
Supporting and mentoring finance team members where required
Assisting with process improvements and strengthening financial controls
Providing ad hoc finance support across the wider business
What you'll need to succeed
Previous experience within a varied accounting role covering both management and financial accounting
Strong understanding of month-end processes and financial reporting
Experience of budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management
Knowledge of VAT andpliance reporting requirements
Experience within a manufacturing, engineering or similar environment would be advantageous
Excellent Excel and systems skills
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Professional qualification (AAT, ACCA, CIMA, ACA part-qualified or qualified) desirable
Available to start at short notice
