Your new company Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting an extremely inclusive and supportive mainstream primary school in Runcorn that is at the heart of its local community as they are looking to appoint a motivated and nurturing teaching assistant for a part-time 20 hour contract that will last the remainder of the academic year. You will be joining an extremely welcoming EYFS cohort, working alongside the class teacher and teaching assistants to promote the education, well-being and development of all pupils in the reception class.

Within this role, you will be supporting a young male pupil on a 1:1 basis that has an EHCP. This young male is an extremely loving and charismatic pupil but does struggle due to a dual diagnosis of a delay disorder and behavioural needs. This pupil is not physical but can become extremely disregulated and loud when triggered. You will support him within the main classroom, designated provision and forest provision, adapting all learning material to best suit his needs. You will directly report to the head teacher on your pupils' progress and needs and regularly attend meetings with the pupils' parents/guardians on their needs and further requirements.

Other duties will include:

  • Implementation of positive behaviour strategies
  • Integrating into new pupil groups
  • Break and lunchtime responsibilities
  • Adaptation of learning material
  • Pupil-led curriculum delivery

To be considered in your application, you must have full 'Right to Work' in the UK, relevant referenceable classroom experience, and:

  • Good knowledge of the EYFS national curriculum
  • Experience supporting SEN (behavioural needs is advantageous)
  • An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification
