How to prepare for a job interview at Hays

Know Your EYFS Stuff

Make sure you brush up on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. Understand its principles and how they apply to child-led learning and play-based sessions. This will show your potential employer that you're not just familiar with the curriculum, but that you can adapt it to different environments.

Show Off Your Flexibility

Since the role involves various placements, be ready to discuss your adaptability. Share examples of how you've successfully adjusted to different teaching styles or routines in past roles. This will highlight your ability to thrive in diverse settings, which is key for a supply teacher.

Demonstrate Your Behaviour Management Skills

Prepare to talk about your approach to behaviour management. Have specific strategies in mind that you've used effectively in the classroom. This will reassure the interviewers that you can maintain a calm and nurturing environment, which is crucial for early years education.

Ask Thoughtful Questions

At the end of the interview, don’t forget to ask questions! Inquire about the school’s ethos, team dynamics, or how they support new supply teachers. This shows your genuine interest in the role and helps you gauge if the environment aligns with your teaching style.
