You’ll work closely with businesses across the region, understanding their plans, assessing commercial opportunities and helping organisations achieve sustainable growth. The RoleWorking alongside the Regional Manager, you will:Identify, assess and appraise potential business investment opportunitiesMeet with business owners, directors and professional advisers to understand business plans and funding requirementsUndertake financial and commercial due diligencePrepare detailed investment proposals and recommendationsAssess both loan and equity-based investment opportunitiesMonitor existing investments, identifying potential risks and opportunitiesBuild strong relationships with businesses and support them throughout their growth journeyDevelop relationships with key regional stakeholders, including local authorities, development organisations and other partnersPromote the organisation across the region through networking, marketing and business development activityOversee the effective operation of regional business/workspace facilitiesDeputise for the Regional Manager when requiredWhat We’re Looking ForYou’ll be commercially minded, naturally inquisitive and confident getting under the skin of a business to understand its financial position, strategy and future potential.Ideally, you will bring:Strong commercial and financial acumenExperience analysing businesses, financial information and business plansAn understanding of investment, lending, banking, accountancy or wider business financeExcellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skillsStrong report writing and communication skillsBusiness development, networking or commercial relationship management experienceGood knowledge of the North East regional economyExperience supporting SMEs or growing businesses would be particularly beneficialA relevant finance or business qualification would be advantageous, although candidates with strong relevant experience will also be consideredAbove all, you’ll be passionate about supporting businesses, creating opportunities and making a positive impact across the North East.
