Your new company A well-established civil engineering and infrastructure organisation is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to provide part-time commercial support on a major highways project.
This flexible opportunity is ideal for a commercially astute QS looking for one day per week, working alongside an experienced commercial team on a complex infrastructure scheme.
Your new role As Quantity Surveyor, your primary responsibility will be the maintenance and development of detailed cost forecasts for a live highways construction project.
You will be responsible for reviewing project progress, interpreting construction programmes and ensuring robust forecasting across all cost streams.
In addition, you will provide wider commercial support to the project team when required, assisting with day-to-day quantity surveying duties and offering cover across the commercial function during periods of peak workload or absence.
Key responsibilities will include: Producing and maintaining accurate cost forecasts across the project lifecycle.
Reviewing programme updates and assessing their impact on project costs.
Forecasting labour, plant, materials, subcontractor and other project costs.
Supporting the commercial team with contract administration and project reporting.
Assisting with compensation events, valuations and commercial management activities as required.
Ensuring commercial data is accurate, up to date and reported in a timely manner.
What you'll need to succeed Previous Quantity Surveying experience within civil engineering or highways infrastructure projects.
Strong working knowledge of NEC4 ECC contracts, particularly Options B and C.
Experience using the Method of Measurement for Highway Works (MMHW).
The ability to confidently interpret construction phase programmes and apply them to cost forecasting activities.
Proven experience producing detailed and robust forecasts across multiple cost categories, including subcontractors, labour, materials and plant.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a project team.
