You will be joining a leading facilities management organisation that provides high-quality, reliable engineering support across a major commercial site in Southampton. The company is known for its professional service delivery, strong technical standards and commitment to maintaining safe, efficient and compliant building environments.
As a Day Shift Multi-Skilled Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering both planned and reactive maintenance across a wide range of mechanical, electrical and building services systems. Working on a rotating shift pattern of 06:00-14:00 and 10:00-18:00, along with one Saturday per month, you will diagnose and repair faults, complete testing and inspection tasks, and support the upkeep of HVAC, electrical distribution, plant equipment, water hygiene systems and fabric repairs.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Fault finding and rectification across M&E and HVAC systems
- Carrying out PPMs and reactive maintenance tasks
- Small installations, replacements and project work
- Working with motors, pumps, AHUs, FCUs, pressurisation systems and BMS (Trend 963)
- Supporting compliance, maintaining logbooks and completing documentation
- Liaising with site users and supervising contractors
- Responding to site emergencies and participating in the call-out rota
- Ensuring materials, tools and stock are effectively managed
This is a hands-on, varied role that requires strong technical ability and a proactive approach.
A recognised trade qualification in electrical, mechanical, HVAC or building services engineering is required, along with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar maintenance position. Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical plant, and building services is essential, as well as experience with BMS systems (Trend 963 desirable). Understanding of health & safety legislation and safe working practices is important, along with excellent customer service skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work effectively and flexibility to support call-out cover and occasional travel to nearby sites are also needed.
