Your new company is a Joiner working in the Public Sector based in Portadown.

Your new role involves delivering a high-quality, responsive joinery and maintenance service across Housing Executive properties, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and supporting organisational standards and values.

  • Joinery & Maintenance: Carry out joinery work including kitchens, doors, windows, flooring, fencing, roofing, plasterboard, and general repairs. Complete multi-skilled tasks outside core trade (e.g. basic plastering, plumbing, tiling, painting). Ensure all work is completed to a high standard, safely and efficiently.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent service and maintain positive tenant relationships. Arrange appointments and access with tenants. Prioritise safety, especially for vulnerable tenants.
  • Performance & Reporting: Accurately complete job records (paper/electronic). Meet productivity targets and deadlines. Identify improvements to working practices.
  • Health & Safety: Follow all relevant legislation, risk assessments, and safe systems of work. Use PPE, tools, vehicles, and equipment safely. Handle chemicals in line with COSHH procedures. Report incidents and attend safety training.
  • Team & Development: Mentor apprentices and new staff. Support team members and provide cover when required. Attend training and contribute to skills development.
  • General Duties: Work collaboratively with colleagues and contractors. Maintain clean and safe working environments. Uphold NIHE policies, reputation, and standards. Participate in out-of-hours emergency call rota if required.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Completed joinery apprenticeship (time-served or skills-based).
  • Minimum 2 years' post-apprenticeship experience in property maintenance/improvement.
  • Ability to work independently across a range of tasks.
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety practices.
  • Good communication, organisation, and customer service skills.
  • Access NI required.
  • Experience in response maintenance services.
  • Full Driving licence, including C1 category.
