Your new company Hays are pleased to have partnered with the London Borough of Ealing to recruit a Planning Validations Officer / Technical Officer to join the team on a 2-year fixed-term basis.The London Borough of Ealing recently celebrated ranking Platinum by the Planning Magazine for the decision-making service, putting them in the top 12 authorities across the country. The council\’s platinum rating means it performed on average between 33-35% above the national quality threshold, meaning it was rated as the top London borough and placing it amongst the top performers in the country. The Planning team is a very stable department with the entire service being permanently employed by the Council, meaning the team acts well together to deliver a quality level of service to applicants. This is an exciting time to join the council, with our Local Plan at Regulation 19 stage, and you will play a key role in ensuring its successful delivery.
Your new role You will work as part of the Planning support function of the Council handling validations. Duties will include, but not limited to, ensuring delivery of the Council\’s objectives as defined in Service Plans, providing technical support under the Town and Country Planning Acts, offering general advice on planning processes and procedures and to analyse, interpret, and make recommendations on basic applications and notices. Systems support will also be crucial, so this role will involve designing and implementing procedures to improve efficiency. You will also use IT systems for data collection, analysis and presentation, maintaining records and preparing reports.
What you\’ll need to succeed Ideally, you will have worked in a Town Planning team in a support / validation function. You will need knowledge and an understanding of planning legislation and the process when going through a planning service. You will have a keen interest in the planning / built environment and delivering a high level of customer service.
What you\’ll get in return This role is initially offered as a 2-year fixed-term contract with a starting salary of between £34416 to £35448. You will benefit from hybrid flexible working and the support of an award-winning Planning Service. Some training will be delivered and an opportunity to get involved with other planning matters to upskill.
