Reporting to the Finance Manager, we are looking for a skilled and motivated Accounting Technician to play a key role in delivering high-quality financial support while contributing to new systems and processes.

About the Role

As an Accounting Technician, you will provide technical financial support across a wide range of accounting functions. This is a varied and hands-on role, perfect for someone who enjoys working across multiple areas of finance and thrives in a developing environment.

You'll play a crucial part in ensuring financial data is accurate, compliant, and delivered on time, while also helping build the systems and processes that will underpin our future success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process journals, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations accurately and efficiently
  • Manage payroll journals and reconcile PAYE, national insurance, and pension accounts
  • Support accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoices and queries
  • Assist with the development and improvement of financial systems and processes
  • Provide guidance to colleagues on financial procedures and systems
  • Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with audit requirements
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and contribute to continuous improvement

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Recognised accounting qualification (ideally AAT, or equivalent experience)
  • Experience delivering core accounting tasks (e.g. reconciliations, journals, reporting, year-end)
  • Good understanding of financial controls, audit requirements, and compliance
  • Strong Excel skills (e.g. VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas)
  • Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise workload effectively
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills
  • Experience working with financial systems (QuickBooks experience advantageous)
