As Payroll Manager, you’ll be the heartbeat of the payroll function - leading the end-to-end process, guiding a small team, and making sure people get paid accurately and on time. You’ll also be the go-to expert for all things payroll, systems, compliance, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Be Getting Up To:
- Running monthly payrolls across multiple sites with accuracy, calmness, and a touch of flair.
- Keeping payroll records pristine and up to date.
- Making sure tax codes, pensions, statutory payments, and deductions are spot-on.
- Working your magic with time & attendance data.
- Reviewing journals, reconciling accounts, and keeping the numbers honest.
- Handling HMRC submissions.
- Uploading BACS files and ensuring everything is signed, sealed, and delivered.
- Solving payroll queries with patience, clarity, and confidentiality.
- Spotting opportunities to improve processes and championing smarter ways of working.
- Owning payroll dashboards.
- Leading annual planning, timelines, and stakeholder coordination.
- Building resilience into the payroll function.
- Hosting remote payroll clinics.
What You Bring:
- Extensive hands-on payroll experience in a complex, multi-site environment.
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation.
- Excellent IT skills, especially Excel.
- Experience of making T&A work with your Payroll software; exposure to a system like Workday, iTrent or Zellis would be ideal.
- Brilliant organisational skills and the ability to stay cool under pressure.
