Location: Central Oxford
Salary: 35k β 40k FTE
Part-time 28 hours per week
Responsibilities:
- Oversee end-to-end monthly payroll processing, including statutory payments (SSP, SMP, etc.) and RTI submissions
- Collaborate with HR to process staffing changes and maintain accurate records
- Administer pension schemes (OSPS, USS, NEST), salary sacrifice programmes, and travel/loan schemes
- Prepare reports for HMRC, including year-end submissions
- Reconcile payroll control accounts, bank accounts, and donation income
- Maintain financial systems, including Opera; support ledger processes and cashbook coding
- Liaise with internal departments and external software providers to troubleshoot and improve payroll functionality
- Assist in budget preparation, annual salary adjustments, and year-end accounting procedures
Essential:
- Prior experience in payroll and finance operations
- AAT-qualified or equivalent (part-qualified acceptable)
- Strong Excel and IT skills
- Meticulous attention to detail; ability to work under pressure
- Effective communicator and team player
Desirable:
- Familiarity with Opera finance system
- Experience within an academic or educational institution
