Your new role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Construction Manager to join a major infrastructure project in Norfolk that will deliver a new housing access road, junction improvements, structures, active travel routes, drainage works, utility diversions and significant enhancements to the strategic road network. The scheme will play a key role in supporting future housing growth and improving connectivity across the region.
Reporting into the Project Director, you will be a key member of the Senior Management Team, leading construction operations from early contractor involvement and site investigations through to project delivery, handover and operational readiness. This is a high-profile role requiring strong leadership, technical expertise and the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams within a complex civil engineering environment.
You will be responsible for ensuring all construction activities are delivered safely, efficiently, to the highest quality standards, on programme and within budget. During the early stages of the project, you will work closely with the Engineering Manager to influence design development, ensuring solutions are practical, safe and efficient to construct. As the scheme progresses into delivery, you will lead site operations and ensure all assets and associated documentation are handed over to the required standards.
Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership across all construction activities, including investigations, surveys, mobilisation and delivery.
  • Ensure buildability and construction requirements are fully considered throughout the design process.
  • Lead and manage engineering teams, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and lead by example.
  • Drive a 'Safe, Efficient, Right First Time' approach to delivery and quality.
  • Work collaboratively with design, commercial, planning, stakeholder and SHEQ teams.
  • Support procurement activities and subcontract management.
  • Manage construction programmes and ensure delivery milestones are achieved.
  • Oversee product control, quality assurance and project handover requirements.
  • Support the Project Director on all construction-related matters throughout the project lifecycle.


What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience in construction delivery within civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction techniques, standards and industry best practice.
  • Experience working within a Principal Contractor environment.
  • Knowledge and experience of Temporary Works procedures.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Proven track record delivering high-quality construction works and associated handover documentation.
  • Degree or HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • CSCS Card.
  • SMSTS or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
