Housing Services Manager Northamptonshire Local Authority | On Site Working ? 3-Month Temporary Contract (With Potential to Become Permanent) ?? £40-£45 per hour Umbrella (£32-£36 PAYE equivalent, dependent on experience)
About the Organisation An exciting opportunity has arisen with a well-regarded Local Authority in Northamptonshire that is committed to delivering excellent housing services and improving outcomes for residents. Following ongoing service transformation and increasing demand across housing services, they are seeking an experienced Housing Services Manager to provide leadership, stability, and operational direction to a high-performing team.This is an ideal opportunity for an established Housing Manager looking to step into a broad leadership role where they can influence service delivery, drive improvement, and help shape the future direction of housing management services.The role is initially offered on a 3-month temporary basis; however, there is a genuine possibility of the position being extended or becoming permanent for the right candidate.
The Role Reporting to the Head of Housing, you will take responsibility for the operational management and performance of a range of frontline housing services, ensuring residents receive responsive, customer-focused and effective service.You will lead experienced managers and housing professionals across several key service areas, while working closely with senior stakeholders to ensure strategic priorities are achieved.This is a hands-on management role requiring a strong understanding of social housing operations, performance management, regulatory requirements and service improvement.
Key Responsibilities Provide leadership and direction across Housing Management services. Manage and support Team Leaders, Housing Officers and specialist housing staff. Drive service improvement initiatives and contribute to transformation programmes. Monitor service performance against KPIs, service standards and regulatory requirements. Lead on tenancy management matters, ensuring a consistent and customer-focused approach. Oversee estate management activity and neighbourhood service delivery. Support effective income collection and arrears prevention strategies. Ensure robust management of anti-social behaviour cases and tenancy enforcement actions. Promote tenancy sustainment and early intervention approaches. Manage operational budgets and resources effectively. Produce performance reports and service updates for senior leadership. Work collaboratively with internal departments, elected members and external partners. Ensure compliance with housing legislation, policies, safeguarding responsibilities and consumer standards. Foster a positive culture focused on accountability, resident satisfaction and continuous improvement. What We're Looking For Applicants should be able to demonstrate:Essential Experience Significant experience working within Housing Management for a Local Authority, ALMO or Housing Association. Experience managing large operational housing teams. Strong understanding of:
Tenancy Management Neighbourhood and Estate Management Anti-Social Behaviour Income Collection and Rent Recovery Tenancy Enforcement Safeguarding Housing Legislation
Proven ability to improve performance and implement service improvements. Experience dealing with complex housing issues and high-profile cases. Strong stakeholder management skills. Experience producing and presenting performance information to senior leaders. Desirable Experience Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) qualification. Experience within a large local authority environment. Experience supporting organisational change or service transformation programmes. Knowledge of the Social Housing Regulation framework and Consumer Standards.
