Lead Accountant /Financial Controller in Northallerton

Your new companyHays Senior Finance is delighted to be supporting an established, multi-site hospitality business in North Yorkshire with the appointment of a Lead Accountant / Financial Controller.

Your new roleReporting into the Director and shareholders, you will take responsibility for delivering an accurate, efficient and commercially focused finance function.

This is a hands-on, office-based position where you will manage the finances of a key operating location while remotely supporting additional sites. Acting as a trusted financial adviser, you will provide management with clear financial information, commercial insight and practical recommendations to support operational and strategic decision-making.

Your responsibilities will include:

Preparing management accounts, financial statements and reportsLeading the budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning processesManaging cash flow, working capital and cash-flow forecastingProducing variance analysis and presenting clear recommendations to managementAdvising on cost control, profitability and investment opportunitiesSupporting business planning and commercial decision-makingManaging payroll from start to finish, including HMRC submissions, pensions and payslipsOverseeing the TRONC processSupporting VAT returns and tax filingsMaintaining appropriate financial controls and ensuring regulatory complianceProviding effective financial oversight across multiple operating locationsWhat you'll need to succeedYou will be a fully qualified accountant or an experienced finance professional who is qualified by experience, with the ability to combine strong technical accounting skills with a practical and commercially focused approach.

The organisation is ideally looking for someone who has worked within hospitality or retail, or within another fast-paced, multi-site, customer-focused environment. Experience of balancing the financial needs of an individual site with the wider requirements of a multi-location business would be particularly valuable.

You should also be able to demonstrate: Strong management accounting, budgeting and forecasting experienceExperience of cash-flow and working-capital managementA sound understanding of payroll, tax and financial complianceThe confidence to advise senior managers and operational stakeholdersStrong leadership, organisation and relationship-management skillsThe ability to manage competing priorities across multiple locationsExperience with QuickBooksPrevious exposure to hospitality systems, TRONC or ResLynx would be advantageousThis is an opportunity to take ownership of a varied and influential finance role within an established multi-site organisation.
