Hays are recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer with strong electrical capability to support a manufacturing site in Somerset on a short-term contract. This role is suited to a mechanically biased engineer who is confident carrying out electrical fault-finding and supporting site maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities- Planned and reactive mechanical maintenance across manufacturing equipment
- Mechanical fault-finding and repair
- Supporting electrical fault-finding on production machinery
- Working on 3-phase motors, drives and inverters
- PLC diagnostics and basic repair
- Maintenance of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Supervising contractors on site
- Writing and understanding Risk Assessments and Method Statements
- Understanding and working under Permit to Work systems
- Recognised or time-served apprenticeship
- Strong proven experience in manufacturing maintenance
- Mechanical qualifications to City & Guilds standard
- Electrical competence to a minimum of City & Guilds 236 Parts 1 & 2 (17th Edition equivalent)
- NVQ Level 2 in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering
- Good multi-skilled maintenance ability
- Experience with: 3-phase motors, Drives and inverters, Hydraulic and pneumatic systems, PLC diagnostics
- Strong fault-finding skills
- Ability to supervise contractors
- Competent in writing RAMS and understanding permits
- Working at Height qualification
- IPAF AP qualifications
- Experience within heavy engineering environments
- Competitive hourly rate of £25 - £27
