Audio Typist (Part-Time) 16 Hours per Week | £14 Per Hour Hays are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a leading private healthcare provider for a Part-Time Audio Typist. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced typist or medical secretary to join a professional clinical environment, supporting consultants and healthcare professionals by producing accurate, high-quality role offers flexibility, a supportive team environment, and the opportunity to play a key part in maintaining accurate patient records and clinical correspondence. Your New Role As Audio Typist, you will be responsible for transcribing clinical dictation into patient records, reports and correspondence, ensuring documentation is completed accurately and within agreed timescales. Key duties will include: Accurately transcribing clinical consultations, procedures and correspondence from audio dictation. Producing clear, professional clinical letters, reports and patient notes. Proofreading and editing documentation to ensure accuracy, grammar and correct medical terminology. Maintaining strict confidentiality of patient information in line with GDPR requirements. Liaising with clinicians and administrative staff to clarify dictation and resolve queries. Reviewing and quality-checking AI-generated transcripts as new technologies are introduced. Supporting general administrative and document management activities when required. Maintaining organised electronic filing systems for completed documentation. What You'll Need to Succeed To be considered for this position, you will have: Previous experience as an Audio Typist, Medical Secretary or in a similar transcription-focused role. Excellent typing speed and accuracy. Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills. Knowledge of medical terminology. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and digital dictation systems. Excellent written English, spelling and grammar. The ability to work independently, prioritise workloads and meet deadlines. Confidence in adapting to new technology and AI-assisted transcription tools. Desirable Experience Previous experience within a private healthcare, medical or clinical setting. Knowledge of dermatology terminology. Familiarity with electronic patient record systems.
