An excellent job opportunity has arisen for a Release Manager to join a highly established and rapidly expanding financial services organisation based in South Wales. The organisation is in an ambitious period of change and transformation, so this role offers great scope for career progression plus the opportunity to work on several interesting projects. This position offers hybrid working and can be based at either the central Cardiff or Newport offices.
Your new role
The Release Manager will take responsibility for governing, coordinating, and assuring the end-to-end 'route to live' for all IT and business change deliveries, including infrastructure updates, development, application releases, and changes that are delivered by third parties. This is a newly created position that requires an experienced Release Manager to bring structure, guidance and influence to a maturing release governance function. You will take ownership of the Release Management Framework, implementing consistent processes to ensure that all business, technical, and operational readiness activities are completed before deployment to ensure successful releases. You will liaise closely with both the Business Change and IT teams to ensure successful releases, working with a range of senior stakeholders and colleagues including the Portfolio Manager, Project Managers, Architecture, Application Support, Testing, and multiple third parties.
What you'll need to succeed
- Proven track record of having worked as a Release Manager
- Significant experience in Release Management or Environment Management roles
- If you have experience of setting up Release Management departments/functions from scratch, this would be a distinct advantage
- Strong technical knowledge of multi-system, multi-vendor IT landscapes
- Experience coordinating releases across multiple teams and third-party suppliers
- Understanding of SDLC, DevOps, change management, and testing processes
- Proven ability to manage risk, issues, and conflict
- Excellent senior stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience working as a Release Manager in a Financial Services organisation or other high regulated environment would be an advantage
- If you hold an ITIL certification this would also be an advantage although not essential
