A leading UK infrastructure contractor is seeking an experienced Design Manager to support the delivery of a major programme of energy infrastructure projects in South Wales. This is a long-term contract opportunity working within a high-profile portfolio, focusing on the coordination and management of multidisciplinary design teams across complex engineering schemes.
As Design Manager, you will take ownership of the design process from early contractor involvement through to project delivery. You will play a key role in ensuring that all design outputs align with programme, cost, and technical requirements.
- Managing the design process from bid stage through to construction delivery
- Coordinating multidisciplinary design teams, including external consultants
- Reviewing and assuring design outputs for quality, compliance, and completeness
- Managing design reviews and supporting change control processes
- Aligning design delivery with programme milestones and commercial objectives
- Liaising with internal stakeholders including commercial, delivery, and project teams
Proven experience as a Design Manager within infrastructure or energy projects:
- Strong background managing multidisciplinary design packages
- Experience within the UK energy sector, ideally on substation or transmission projects
- Experience of Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) delivery models
- Ability to manage external design consultancies and stakeholder interfaces
Long-term contract through to late 2027. Competitive day rate on an Umbrella PAYE basis. Opportunity to work on a major programme of nationally significant infrastructure projects. Hybrid working arrangements negotiable.
