Overview
As Finance Manager, you will own day-to-day finance in a SME manufacturing environment, reporting to the senior leadership team and driving business performance. You’ll lead financial reporting, cash management, and key controls while supporting operational decision-making. The role offers autonomy within a small, collaborative team and involvement in both financial and operational outcomes. Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts, balance sheets and trial balances
- Manage cash flow and banking activities
- Oversee payroll, VAT returns and pension submissions
- Ensure smooth transactional finance processes and controls
- Support foreign currency transactions and board reporting
- Assist the annual audit process
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders on financial and operational decisions
Key requirements
- Proven experience in a broad hands-on finance role, ideally in an SME
- Ability to prepare management accounts, balance sheets and cash flow forecasts
- Experience overseeing transactional finance, payroll and VAT
- Experience with Sage accounting systems, ideally Sage 200 (advantageous)
- Strong Excel and Microsoft 365 skills
- Excellent organisational and communication abilities
