Your new role: As a Multi-Skilled Shift Technician, you will support the Container Division Engineering team in a busy port environment, ensuring day-to-day maintenance activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with operational demands. Working on a 4 on / 4 off 12-hour shift pattern, you will be responsible for delivering planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive corrective maintenance across Ship-to-Shore (STS) and Cantilever Rail Mounted Gantry Cranes (CRMGs), along with associated equipment across the port. This role is genuinely multi-skilled, covering both electrical and mechanical maintenance tasks. You will work closely with Engineering Shift Managers and senior engineers, ensuring compliance with electrical safety rules, permit-to-work systems, and site safety standards. Work may involve operating at height, in confined spaces, and within challenging industrial environments.

What you'll need to succeed: To be successful in this role, you will hold a minimum HNC (or equivalent) in Mechatronics, or combined Electrical and Mechanical Engineering qualifications. You will also bring:

  • Proven experience working with PLCs, motors and controls, and variable speed drives
  • Experience of electrical installation works, fault-finding, repairs, and infrastructure replacement
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced operational environment
  • A good working knowledge of maintenance strategies such as RCM, PM, CBM, and TPM
  • An understanding of permit-to-work systems, safe systems of work, and accident reporting
  • The flexibility and willingness to multi-skill across electrical and mechanical disciplines
  • The ability to work safely at heights, in confined spaces, and in dusty or dirty environments
