NHS (Devon) Devon (Predominantly Remote) 6-9 Month Contract | Immediate Start

Hays are working in partnership with a well-established NHS organisation in the Devon area to recruit an experienced Interim Management Accountant to support the finance team during a busy period of change and transformation. This is a key requirement, and prior NHS experience is essential to ensure you can quickly add value in a complex and regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and detailed commentary
  • Supporting budget setting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
  • Business partnering with budget holders and operational teams, offering financial insight and challenge
  • Assisting with statutory reporting and year-end processes
  • Supporting improvements in financial processes, controls, and reporting
  • Analysing financial performance and highlighting risks and opportunities
  • Ensuring compliance with NHS financial governance and reporting standards
About You:
  • Fully or part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent)
  • Proven recent experience working within the NHS
  • Strong understanding of NHS finance processes, systems, and reporting requirements
  • Demonstrable management accounting and financial analysis experience
  • Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with non-finance stakeholders
  • Highly organised and able to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong Excel skills; familiarity with NHS finance systems (e.g. ESR, Oracle, or equivalent) is desirable
