Local Government (Devon) - Predominantly Remote

Day Rate: Up to £300 per day

Hays are working in partnership with a reputable Local Government organisation in the Devon area to recruit an experienced Interim Finance Business Partner to support key service areas during a busy period of change and transformation. This is a critical role, and previous Local Government experience is essential to ensure you can quickly embed within the team and provide effective financial support in a regulated public sector environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Acting as a Finance Business Partner to service managers, providing financial insight, challenge, and support.
  • Leading on budget setting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • Delivering accurate and timely financial reporting, including variance analysis and commentary.
  • Supporting senior stakeholders with decision-making through robust financial analysis.
  • Identifying financial risks and opportunities and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Supporting transformation initiatives and driving value for money across services.
  • Ensuring compliance with Local Government financial regulations and reporting requirements.
About You:
  • Fully or part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent).
  • Proven experience within Local Government finance.
  • Strong background in business partnering and stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate financial data into meaningful insight.
  • Confident communicator, capable of influencing senior non-finance stakeholders.
  • Experience working in complex, fast-paced public sector environments.
  • Strong Excel skills; experience with Local Authority finance systems is advantageous.
