Hays are working in partnership with a reputable Local Government organisation in the Devon area to recruit an experienced Interim Finance Business Partner to support key service areas during a busy period of change and transformation. This is a critical role, and previous Local Government experience is essential to ensure you can quickly embed within the team and provide effective financial support in a regulated public sector environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Acting as a Finance Business Partner to service managers, providing financial insight, challenge, and support.
- Leading on budget setting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
- Delivering accurate and timely financial reporting, including variance analysis and commentary.
- Supporting senior stakeholders with decision-making through robust financial analysis.
- Identifying financial risks and opportunities and developing mitigation strategies.
- Supporting transformation initiatives and driving value for money across services.
- Ensuring compliance with Local Government financial regulations and reporting requirements.
- Fully or part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent).
- Proven experience within Local Government finance.
- Strong background in business partnering and stakeholder engagement.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate financial data into meaningful insight.
- Confident communicator, capable of influencing senior non-finance stakeholders.
- Experience working in complex, fast-paced public sector environments.
- Strong Excel skills; experience with Local Authority finance systems is advantageous.
- Immediate start with a contract likely to run for 6-9 months.
- Predominantly remote working, with occasional on-site presence in Devon.
