Your new role involves acting as the local SME for a defined business domain (Sales). You will ensure the effective operation, stability, and alignment of both local and centrally managed IT applications with business processes. The role is responsible for maintaining compliance, IT policies, data security standards, coordinating releases/changes, facilitating issue resolution, and ensuring documentation and process standardisation. As the primary interface between the local market and central IT, you will translate business needs into aligned solutions.

They are seeking someone with:

  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to drive continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across teams and regions.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Strong understanding of enterprise IT systems and applications (ERP, WMS, Finance, HR), and how they support end-to-end business processes within a multi-country environment.
  • Proven ability to align business needs with global IT standards, balancing governance with practical market requirements.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across local teams and central HQ functions.
  • Structured and analytical problem-solver, able to diagnose issues, drive resolution, operational efficiencies, and support continuous improvement.
  • Experience in documenting processes, systems, and integrations, with a focus on clarity, standardisation, and operational resilience.
  • Solid knowledge of IT governance, data protection, and information security principles, with a strong commitment to compliance and best practice.

What you'll get in return:

You can expect a salary up to £50,000 (depending on experience), plus pension (5%), annual bonus (up to 10%), private medical, life assurance (x4) and hybrid working (2 to 3 days a week onsite).

How to prepare for a job interview at Hays

Brush Up on Your Technical Skills

For an IT consulting role, be ready to demonstrate your technical prowess. You might face questions on systems integration, cloud technologies, or even troubleshooting specific software. If you have experience with tools like AWS, Azure, or even specific programming languages, make sure you can talk about them fluently.

Showcase Your Problem-Solving Approach

IT consulting is all about solving problems for clients. Think about how you can illustrate your approach to a past challenge using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result). It's a great way to show how you tackle complex issues and come up with effective solutions.

Know the Business Impact of IT Solutions

When discussing your experiences, focus not just on the tech solutions you implemented, but also on their business impact. Employers want to see that you can connect IT with organisational goals. Prep examples that highlight how your tech contributions improved efficiency or reduced costs for past clients or projects.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

Since IT consulting often involves teamwork and client interactions, expect behavioural questions that assess your interpersonal skills. Be prepared with examples that demonstrate your adaptability, communication skills, and how you handle client feedback. Before the interview, think of situations where you worked closely with clients to create effective IT strategies or changes.
