This is an exciting time for an experienced end to end Payroller to join a large organisation in Middlesbrough managing the entire Payroll process.
Your new role
Role Overview: The role plays a critical part in delivering accurate, compliant, and timely payroll services. Working closely with the HR Manager, you will take ownership of payroll processing cycles and ensure all employee data is maintained to the highest standard of accuracy and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Payroll Management (Primary Focus)
- End-to-end processing of monthly and fortnightly payroll, ensuring full accuracy and compliance with statutory requirements.
- Maintain and update all payroll records, including new starters, leavers, contractual amendments, and absence data.
- Liaise with external payroll providers to ensure timely and correct submission of payroll data.
- Calculate and administer statutory payments including SSP, SMP, SPP, and holiday pay.
- Respond to employee and manager payroll queries, providing clear and timely resolutions.
- Support year-end payroll activities, including P60s, P11Ds, and audit documentation.
- Ensure payroll processes align with current legislation, internal controls, and audit standards.
- HR Administration
- Provide day-to-day HR administrative support across the full employee life cycle.
- Maintain accurate and compliant employee records in line with GDPR and internal policies.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, statutory payments, and payroll calculations.
- Experience using payroll systems and HR databases.
- Understanding of income tax, National Insurance, and benefit-in-kind rules.
- High level of IT proficiency, particularly Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a small, fast-paced team.
