This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading MEP engineering contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, technically complex projects across the UK and Ireland. Due to project demands, this contractor is seeking to appoint a Mechanical Estimator to join their commercial team in their Belfast office.

Reporting to the Estimating Manager, you will assist and produce priced tenders for multi-million pound projects within the Healthcare, Education, Commercial and Leisure sectors. Responsibilities include:

  • Detailed mechanical take-offs for a variety of projects from high-level cost plans/budgets, design & build & fully designed.
  • Taking tenders from submission stage through to project award, ensuring an effective transition to the contracts team.
  • Liaising and communicating with Sub-Contractors, Vendors and Suppliers to prepare tenders in a timely manner.
  • Understanding and analysing mechanical drawings and schematics to establish the right price.
  • Preparing commercial quantified schedules of rates/tender summary information.
  • Identifying valued engineering options and any risks during the tender bid period.
  • Building relationships with customers to promote repeat business.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a mechanical estimating role.
  • Sound mechanical technical knowledge.
  • Self-motivated, with a 'can-do' approach to work and willingness to learn and assist.
  • Organised and disciplined in your planning and approach to work.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly in both verbal and written communication.
  • Work well and confidently as part of a team in a busy estimating environment.
