Overview

You will join an established packaging and recycling business to lead hands-on maintenance while supervising the site’s machinery readiness for production. The role blends practical maintenance with supervisory duties, ensuring equipment is reliable and uptime is maximized. You’ll work on shredders, conveyors, pumps and related systems, and help install new production lines. This is a hands-on, autonomous position with visible impact on site operations.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform troubleshooting
  • Execute planned preventative maintenance and machinery walk-arounds
  • Maintain and service shredders, conveyors, high-pressure pumps, motors and water-washing systems
  • Perform basic welding, fabrication and minor electrical work
  • Support installation and setup of new production lines and equipment
  • Identify faults, determine repair needs and take initiative without daily task lists
  • Manage own workload independently with site management support as needed
  • Contribute to keeping production running efficiently

Key requirements

  • Strong mechanical maintenance background
  • Relevant mechanical qualification (preferred)
  • Experience maintaining production machinery (pumps, conveyors, shredders, hydraulic systems)
  • Autonomous fault diagnosis and ownership of breakdowns
  • Good practical problem-solving skills
  • Welding experience
  • Understanding of general maintenance processes
  • Basic electrical knowledge (beneficial)
  • PLC experience (advantageous)
