Are you a qualified Level 3 Teaching Assistant with experience supporting pupils with behavioural needs? Hays Education is recruiting for a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to join a specialist Primary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in South Manchester. This full-time role starts immediately and offers a temporary-to-permanent opportunity, typically after 12-18 weeks.

Location: South Manchester

Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary to Permanent (12-18 weeks)

Salary: Up to Β£125/day DOE

Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils aged 5-11 with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs
  • Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions focused on behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Implement de-escalation strategies and behaviour management plans
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment

What We're Looking For:

  • A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience supporting children with SEMH or challenging behaviour
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills
  • A calm, empathetic, and resilient approach
  • Team Teach or similar training (desirable but not essential)
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply
